Claire Brainard Draper (She/her/hers)
Claire Brainard Draper joined as the Wei LAB manager in 2019, and as of 2023 is REVIIS Project Manager.
Claire earned her Master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Chicago in 2019 with a project that examined political shifts caused by the Refugee Crisis in Greece in relation to the rise of ultra-nationalism. At the Wei LAB she applies her anthropological perspective to approach research and to engage in the practical, every-day situations she encounters in her manager position.
In the past Claire worked as a research assistant for the head anthropologist at Concordia University Irvine, performing independent qualitative research and curating an exhibit based on department fieldwork. At Concordia, where she earned her B.A. in Anthropology, she was also the Vice President of Associated Students, the Student Activities Coordinator, and a Community Life Builder for the Crosswise Institute collaborating with teachers on logistics as well as guidance and discussion groups for high-school students. Additionally, Claire has experience teaching English as a second language in Japan, China, and Czechia and as a volunteer in human rights assisting Iranian and Syrian refugees in Greece, and serving female adults with moderate illnesses or disabilities at a Mother Teresa’s Home of Charity in Prem Dan.
