DeVon Wilson, Wei LAB Research Associate, served as a panelist at the
2019 Consortium on High Achievement and Success (CHAS) and Institute for Transformative Practice (ITP) Symposium hosted by Brown University in March 2019. Wilson was featured in the opening plenary titled, “Administrators as Disruptors in Higher Education,” with co-panelists David Kamitsuka and Dana Hamdan of Oberlin College and facilitated by Jorge Vargas of Brown University.
The Consortium aims to gather students, staff, faculty and administrators of color to discuss topics including what transformative change looks like, how to retain faculty and staff of color within the academy and how individuals of color thrive, not just survive, in predominantly and historically white institutional spaces. The title of this year’s event was, “Truth Telling and Possibility Making: Towards Transformative and Sustainable Futures in Higher Education.”
