My research focuses on how policies affect student access and success for underrepresented students (especially) first-generation low-income students

What do you like best about working for the Wei Lab?
We are working on the projects that improve people’s lives
What is your personal philosophy?
No society can afford to leave behind students who have the ability, motivation and diligence to succeed.
What is the greatest challenge you have had to overcome in your life thus far?
As a first-generation college graduate from a low-income family, I received the highly competitive scholarship from Turkish government.
Why does education matter to you?
I believe that we can solve any problems in the society through education. Furthermore, many problems can be conquered if we cultivate the intellectual resources of all young people through providing underrepresented students equal educational access and opportunities.
What does equity/inclusion mean to you?
To provide underrepresented students equal educational access and opportunities.
What is the best book you have ever read?
Love in the Mirror Corridor- Mustafa Ulusoy (Turkish)
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
A traveler who is trying to understand on his own way.
How do you define success?
I can define anything as a success if it has a positive effect on people’s lives.
