Starting in 2021, Wei LAB Director, Dr. Jerlando F. L. Jackson joins the Excellence in Media Reporting on Education Research Award Committee for a two-year appointment. The committee is under the American Educational Research Association (AERA).

Wei LAB Research Scientist, Dr. Brian A. Burt, was promoted to Assistant Professor with tenure in the Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis program in UW-Madison’s School of Education. The promotion took effect starting the 2021-2022 academic year.

Wei LAB Director, Dr. Jerlando F. L. Jackson, was selected to chair the search-and-screen committee for the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s next Deputy Vice Chancellor for Diversity and Inclusion, Vice Provost and Chief Diversity Officer.

Wei LAB Special Projects Manager and Research Assistant, Kayla Gross, was appointed as the University of Wisconsin-Madison’s Department of Computer Science’s Inclusion Program Manager. The appointment started January 2021. Her role consists of improving the recruitment and retention of women in the computer science department.

In February 2021, Wei LAB Director, Dr. Jerlando F. L. Jackson delivered a guest lecture at the University of Tennessee’s College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences. The lecture was titled “Disrupting Organizational Disparities: A Chief Leadership Challenge Post 2020,” and was part of the Billie Grace Goodrich Distinguished Lecture Series and Bogue Lecture Series.

Wei LAB Research Scientist, Dr. Brian A. Burt, delivered a lecture titled, “The Messiness – yet, Necessity – of Engaging in Broadening Participating Work: A Candid Conversation,” to Purdue University’s School of Engineering Education.

Wei LAB Research Associates, Josh Wallace, Tiaira Porter, and Blayne Stone Jr., gave a presentation titled “Addressing Equity and Inclusion in the STEM Classroom” to UW-Madison’s Kinesiology Graduate Seminar.
